Emails sent and received by Clinicare are unencrypted and therefore may not be secure. This means there is a risk that an unauthorised third party or unintended recipient may be able to access your health information. We can communicate confidential health information via unencrypted email if you understand the privacy and security risks.
Please do not send any urgent enquiries via email. Our emails are monitored Monday-Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and we will endeavour to respond to your query within the next 1-3 business days. Our email address is clinicaremanager@gmail.com.
Risks of using unencrypted email
All forms of written communication involve the risk that information could be accessed by an unintended recipient.
The risks of using unencrypted email include:
Emails could be sent to the wrong recipient
Emails could be accessed on portable devices (e.g. phones, tablets) which can be easily lost or stolen
Email is vulnerable to interception via a third party
Emails can be forwarded or changed without the consent of the original sender
Protective measures
Clinicare will use reasonable measures to protect the privacy of your medical records, however, because of the risks outlined above, we cannot guarantee the security of your health information.
We will use the following measures to protect your privacy:
Promptly transferring health information to our encrypted storage and deleting the information from our email server.
Using three patient identifiers to correctly identify patients
Ensuring patient email address is correct
Notifying patients that the email is not encrypted and receiving consent
Documenting the outcome of our request to send documents via unencrypted email in your health record
Including a notice on our emails if the email is sent to the incorrect recipient
Notifying the OAIC of any significant data breach
Clinicare is not responsible for any inappropriate access to your health records from any unencrypted email that you authorise.
