About
“I welcome clients with genuine warmth, respect, and validation of their efforts thus far, helping them to better understand themselves and their current experience, as well as assisting their conscious adaptation towards enhanced coping skills, clarity, confidence & connection.”
Josh is a highly regarded registered counsellor and training psychologist who holds membership with the Australian Counselling Association. Josh works with adults, adolescents, couples, and families regarding a wide range of concerns. Josh believes that it is only human to experience challenging times. He also believes that it is through challenge that we grow.
His experience has shown him that when people lean into addressing their challenges in a space of understanding and authenticity, they can grow past their current difficulties, achieving greater self-understanding and empowerment. Joshua is committed to helping his clients develop practical, evidence-based skills & tools in the form of personal insights, self-care methods, and empowerment practices. Josh’s personal style is warm, engaging and passionate, and in this way he collaborates with and supports his clients in building their own framework of wellbeing, and in regaining agency in moving towards their goals.
With his client’s needs, goals, and preferences at the centre, Josh ensures that each session holds a respectful, warm, and powerful space. This allows him to better understand and nurture each client’s unique experience, profile, and personal goals. Josh’s practice is guided by a Person-Centred & Integrative Approach using a combination of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance & Commitment Therapy (ACT), Solution-Focused Therapy (SFT), Mindfulness-Based and Strengths-Based Approaches, Narrative Therapy, and Psychoeducation, all underpinned by evidence-based and evolutionary psychology.
Josh believes, and has seen in his clients, that engaging in counselling can be a profoundly rewarding experience. He believes in each and every client and their tendency towards self-actualisation and growth. By better connecting with and understanding themselves, Josh believes that clients can change the patterns and beliefs that have been getting in the way of their flourishing, opening new possibilities for enhanced wellbeing.
